Dr. Loiy Ahmed Hassan is a Research Scientist, with long experience in
drug discovery and cancer biology completed a Bachelor of Science in 2004 at
University of Khartoum, Sudan. In 2009, he completed his MSc in Chemical Biology
in University of Khartoum, Sudan and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). He did
his PhD in the field of Pharmacology in school Pharmaceutical Sciences, Universiti
Sains Malaysia (USM) in 2016. He spent most of his research at USM in cancer
biology and drug discovery. He was also appointed as a visiting Researcher at the
Department of Pharmacology, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Universiti Sains
Malaysia (USM). He had Postdoctoral Fellowship at Harvard Medical school on
Cancer Biology and Therapeutics (High Impact Cancer Research- HICR). His
research interest focuses on development of drugs that target tumor angiogenesis
cancer cell proliferation. In 2020 he shifted to Industry working for start up and
bigger companies (Bristol Myers Squibb and AstraZeneca) as a Senior Scientist.
Many of his research activities in this field are centered towards biological target
identification &validation and design drugs that target specific signaling pathway,
in addition to his experience in project management, Design of Experiment (DOE )
for R&D projects and Bioanalitical Methods development .
He participated in 13 international conferences and he is a reviewer for three
journals. He loves traveling, visiting interesting places, Hiking, cycling, swimming
and always tends to socialize with people.
